The Department of Health and Ageing has a diverse set of responsibilities, but throughout there is a common purpose of delivering better health and active ageing for all Australians.
The TGA is Australia’s regulatory authority for therapeutic goods. The TGA carries out a range of assessment and monitoring activities to ensure therapeutic goods available in Australia are of an acceptable standard with the aim of ensuring that the Australian community has access, within a reasonable time, to therapeutic advances.
The NPS works with health professionals, consumers, Government and industry to improve the health of all Australians through the promotion of Quality Use of Medicines.

Registered under the federal Workplace Relations Act 1996 as an employers’ organisation. Members are owners of some 5,000 pharmacies throughout Australia.
